Support Worker starting salary (£12.21 per hour) Sleep In (£30)
Support Workers are members of the staff team whose purpose is to assist the individual service users to live their life to their fullest potential. This post is about enabling and supporting service users while demonstrating always a sensitive, understanding, and patient approach. All service users have the right to privacy, dignity, and choice, to be supported in taking considered risks, and to make decisions about their own life. Support staff must demonstrate respect and show proper regard for everyone in all aspects of their care/support and to help individuals where there are communication differences or difficulties.
Duties & Responsibilities
- You will be responsible to the Senior Support Worker of Madeba Care.
- To work always in a way that demonstrates an understanding of the job purpose as described in this job description, and with appropriate training and guidance from the Company Registered Manager.
- To promote good staff relationships through effective communication, leadership, and delegation, ensuring that all staff are aware of, and follow, The Company Policies and Procedures always.
- To be actively involved in enabling the service user to understand their Tenancy Agreement and to comply with their individual responsibilities towards the upkeep of the tenancy.
- Being actively involved in the individual’s person-centered Support Plan and welfare, this will be completed by thorough planning, assessment, review of needs, and progress; the process will require recording and possible participation in meetings.
- To assist the Service Users, and/or promote and enable the Individual to remain as independent as possible and assist them with daily living tasks such as house cleaning, meal planning, preparation and cooking, and shopping for a healthy living menu.
- To assist, promote and enable the Service User to order medication for themselves.
- To give personal, emotional, and practical support, this may include assisting Service Users to take part in social and community activities or visits to relatives/friends.
- To encourage and assist participation in community events, in order to improve the individual’s quality of life and independence.
- To enable and promote activities and facilitate hobbies suitable to the individual needs of the service user.
- To actively encourage and promote effective communication and relationships with others.
- To communicate within the boundaries of data protection and confidentiality, with Service Users, their family and friends, advocates, other staff, and professional agencies regarding the health, social care, and welfare of the Individual.
- To ensure that information about individuals is always treated with respect and confidentiality whether the information is verbal or written.
- To contribute to the overall quality of the service delivery, by effective teamwork and good practice.
- To take part in staff meetings, supervision, and training to agreed targets.
- To work always in accordance with The Company Policies and Procedures.
- To report immediately to the Manager, any incident of a serious nature, such as suspected abuse or accidents
- To work varied shifts, weekends, and public holidays, including sleep-in duties.
Skills and Experience needed
- A genuine willingness to care and support.
- High level of spoken and written English
